HDB

In 1960s, shorty after the singapore's indenpendence, the country faced a serious problem of housing shortages. In response, the government passed the Housing and Development Act of 1960 to the Housing and Development Board (HDB).
In 1970s, more HDB flats were built. And citizens were capable to buy the flat instead of rent.
In 1980s, a quota was introduced to ensure that no particular racial group concentrated together to prevent sectarianism-which may lead to a social conflict.
In 1990s, the HDB concentrated on the ungrading of existing older flats. Acts like installing new facilities were introduced to bought more convenience to the community.

In 2000s, most of the HDB flats were developed neibourhoods with schools, supermarkets, clinics, food centres and recreational facilities.
In 2010s and beyond, the HDB design are more look alike the condominiums.
