Lytic and Lysogenic cycle

Lytic Cycle

viruses that kill their infected host cell are called virulent. The DNA in these type of viruses reproduces through the lytic cycle. When these viruses break open or lyse, this will thus results in the death of host cell.

Lysogenic Cycle

In the lysogenic cycle, the phage's DNA combines with the bacterial chromosome. Once it has inserted itself, it is known as a prophage. These cells are able to reproduce without causing damages to the host cells. Hence it carries a higher risk of harming the immune system unknowingly.
